Student safety and well-being have always been and continue to be the highest priority at Altus Public Schools.  Yesterday, August 30, 2021, at the 9th Grade home football game APS resource officers were notified of a high school student who was in possession of and discharging a bb gun in the stands.  Resource officers escorted the student outside of the stadium and the student was released into parental custody.  Altus Police Department was notified of the incident.

Altus Public Schools is a weapons-free school.  The District’s policies reflect a no-tolerance approach to weapons on school grounds and action laid out in school policy was followed.   Due to privacy laws the District cannot comment any further.
